Guildford Boundary Walk

In conjunction with the University of Surrey, Surrey Group is again running the 20 mile Guildford Boundary Challenge Walk. Open to walkers, joggers and runners and originally devised in 1971 by Barbara and Alan Blatchford, it circumnavigates Guildford by roughly following the 1933 to 1974 Borough Boundary mainly on footpaths and bridleways. It was discontinued in 1989 due to the increasing difficulty of crossing two major roads but with subsequent road improvements was successfully re-introduced in 2006. The event is also supported by Guildford Borough Council.

Registration/Finish |
University of Surrey Sports Hall GR982502 (main entrance off A3 by Cathedral) - building 1 (coloured orange) on the campus map Registration opens 0800. It will take 15 mins or so to get to the start once you have registered, so plan to leave in good time to get there & have your check card punched before the actual start. Walkers should plan to leave the Sports Hall by say 0835. Runners by say 1010. (Registration only takes a few minutes.) |

| Walk details |
The walk is a 20 mile circumnavigation of Guildford starting & finishing at the University. Open to walkers, joggers and runners it roughly follows the 1933-74 Borough Boundary mainly on footpaths and bridleways. A detailed route description will be provided on the day with certificates to all finishers. |

There will be 3 checkpoints along the route providing cold drinks and light sustenance (biscuits, cake etc) |

| Entry Fee |
£3.00 for LDWA and UniS members for postal entries prior to Sept 26th, £4.00 for others and £5.00 for on-the-day entries. £2 for under 16's at all times! |
